This blogs supposed to be used to document my ideas and as of yet I haven't detailed a single piece of coursework. So, now is the time...
I shall start with the easiest, Audio. For this we have two pieces of coursework. The first is to "clean up" an audio file which has been poorly recorded. I have done most of it, I believe all I have left to do is remove the high pitched frequency and then write a short report on how I achieved the final file. Shouldn't be too hard. The second piece of audio coursework is to create a 45-60 second radio advert for Abertay's new Centre of Excellence. For this I have decided to write a short song, sing it myself (dear lord) and then using Soundforge, make it sound...well, good =P I have my wee musical helper, aiding me in creating a tune to accompany the lyrics. Aiming to have this finished by the end of this week.
Next is Visual Literacy. I have already began the essay, which may or may not be what they are looking for. The second task is to create four 2D images, manipulating them on Photoshop etc. I have made one of these images, which is posted here. Again, this may not be what they are looking for, but balls to them. My other ideas are still a work in progress (until I can find my usb cable) But I can outline my plans, the first is a photo of my hand along with a wine glass, which has appeared to roll away, I plan to make this black and white, probably add a few effects to it (give it a grainy texture etc) and then add what appears to be either blood or wine, but Im not telling you which ;) and this is going to be bold red, so it stands out. The third and fourth aren't completely decided upon yet, one will no doubt be some kind of poster using Photoshop and the other, I had an idea with pasta that I may go for. We shall see. The last piece of Visual Literacy coursework is to create two images from a book, one of a scene and the other of a character. The book I have chosen is Linwood Barclay's 'No time for goodbye' (epic book btw) I will update you on the images once I have made my final choices.
Elementary Animation...the joys! I have finished my flipboooks. I chose to do a bouncing ball and a bird flying around a tree, rather boring to be honest. For my flash animation, I have decided to use the words float, burst and crash. Nothing spectacular, basically the word float, floats up in clouds, birds fly into these clouds causing them to burst, the word burst then falls through the sky, ultimately crashing to the ground to create the word crash...hopefully that makes sense.
Dynamic Communications, where do I start. Well I have decided on my seed, Gothic Art, concentrating mainly on the myths of Mermaids and Fairys and how they were percieved as evil, manipulative creatures. Now my task is to invesitgate my seed and get this...talk to people who have seen real life mermaids and fairy's. Wtf?! To my surprise however, finding people who actually believed they had seen a mermaid or fairy wasn't as impossible as Id first imagined. Just type fairy sightings into Google and you get pages upon pages of dillusional mental patients. We have also to create an Avatar for this module, although Im not sure if it is included in the coursework, nevertheless I have came up with an idea. A drawing of myself, as I see myself anyway, with my influences all around me, i.e friends, family, music... Im sure I will create something semi decent. =/
